The Venosta Valley, a sun-soaked cultural region

I love extended weekends, especially when you can spend them in the wonderful Venosta Valley (Vinschgau) South Tyrol. A friend of mine (thank you Céline) recommended the Hotel Gerstl if you're into some wellness, some outdoor activities and delicious food and drinks.

This is all I was asking for and i can promise, you won't get disappointed. When we arrived there, we got warmly welcomed and enjoyed later a yum welcome drink with a fantastic panoramic view over the alps.

It's hard to highlight what we enjoyed most, so I just highlight what i loved about the stay there :)

  • the location of the hotel - you were always sorrounded by an amazing panoramic view, no matter if in the infinity pool (which even provided a selfie cam), when having dinner, during hikes or when getting up and going to the balcony.
  • the food and drinks! Oh my god everything was soo delicious. In addition I like the "R30" concept they do provide partially where they offer local food and drinks only from the region (within 30km radius).
  • Massage and Spa - we enjoyed some time off in the Sauna, Relaxing rooms and had some great massages - especially the head and neck massage before leaving was amazing!
  • the program the hotel is offering. Unfortunately we "only" had time for 2 guided hikes and the spa / sauna program.
  • The friendliness and service! I don't tell anything more at this point as in case you will go there I think it's best to not knowing everything and just to enjoy it!

The hikes we did:

Hiking up Watles - there was still a bit of snow and the lake frozen. But you can enjoy a fabulous view from the restaurant on top. We decided to back down by cablecar. The mountain is close to the hotel and a perfect half day activity / hike.

I guess pictures say more than words - I hope to be back soon in this paradise which makes it super easy to re-charge your batteries. Enjoy the gallery!
