Thailand - Love at first sight

Thailand was on my list for a long time and even happier, when I could board on the A380 with a quick stop in Singapore (we had time for the hop on hop of bus before heading further), we landed in Bangkok in October 2012 just right after I completed my further education (HF Betriebswirtschaft).

We had initially first some days in Bangkok in a well located hotel. It was close to MBK (Shoppiiiiing) and so it was easy to get around. Knowing that probably all TukTuk driver cheated, I still preferred this way of transport as it was much fun :)

After some days with exploring temples and eating great food (I just love the thai kitchen) we met the group in another hotel in Bangkok where the trip started with Gadventures on which we booked this one: https://www.gadventures.com/trips/northern-hilltribes-villages/ATHV/

My highlights of the trip:

  • The nights in Bangkok :)
  • The nights in Chiang Mai :)
  • The nighttrain - great option to travel during night from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. Comfortable and yummi food
  • The hike with the stay in the villages. The people where so friendly, the kids so cute and we had such a great time with very very basic comfort
  • The ride on a bamboo float. We were the only group who overturned somehow although our guide said this was impossible :) anyway it was not dangerous and a nice ride
  • The ride on the back of an elephant :) I have to say we had a cheeky and hungry one who preferred to get the trees down to us but still fun tough.

After these days we took off to Koh Samui for some days doing nothing, relaxing on the beach, enjoying life. It was a really cool trip overall and I would come back to Thailand anytime.

Luckily, I had the chance to come back for business in 2016. The conference took place in Phuket, which was great fun too. Staying in Karon Beach I just took the taxi after I arrived (around 1 am) to Patong for some drinks and a Phad Thai which is a must especially after a long flight, veeery long immigration and another long taxi ride. On the weekend before the conference started, I took the chance to discover the island to see the Big Buddha for example.

Another guy who attended the conference as well went fishing and broucht back fresh sashimi tuna which was sooo delicious.

After the conference there was the possibility to sign up for an island hopping to Phi Phi Island. Of course I joined - what a crazy boatride! But luckily, nobody of our boat got seasick so we could snorkelling and enjoy the beauty of the island. After returning it was already time to head back home. I am sure I haven't been in Thailand for the last time!

Kop Khun Ka Thailand!
